Assessment
a) Knowledge-based Assignments
The IEMA Certificate in Environmental Management is assessed with three knowledge-based assignments, one for each taught module. This is in the form of a written document for each of the three modules, and you will take each one as you complete the relevant module.
- Module 1: Fundamentals of Sustainability, Business and Governance
- Module 2: Environmental Principles, Policy and Legislation
- Module 3: Environmental Management, Assessment Tools and Skills
Word Count: A word count is provided for each question on your assignment. Exceeding the word count will result in marks being deducted. The assessments are designed to allow learners to achieve the highest marks without reaching the word limit.
b) Assignment of Competence
- You will then need to complete an Assessment of Competence based on work experience, and how the knowledge gained throughout the course can be applied practically within the workplace.
- This is taken after all other modules have been successfully completed. This is to qualify for Practitioner Membership of IEMA (PIEMA), and you will receive details on how to join.
Pass marks
All pass marks for the IEMA Certificate in Environmental Management assessments are at a steady 50%. The candidate must pass all three assessments to complete the Certificate in Environmental Management.
- <49% – Fail
- 50-59% – Pass
- 60-69% – Merit
- 70%+ – Distinction
